FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

CAN YOU PLAY OUTDOORS?

Yes! I am more than happy to play outside, as long as I have a flat, hard surface and protection from the elements. The harp is very sensitive to heat and moisture, so I must be located in the shade or under a covered area. In the event of inclement weather, I recommend having an indoor backup location, as the harp cannot be exposed to rain or mist.

I AM ENGAGED!  WHAT DO I DO NOW?

Congratulations! I am so excited to be a part of your special day! After we confirm the date of your wedding, we schedule a free one-hour consultation at my home or via Zoom to choose your music. For a wedding ceremony, we normally choose pieces for:

Seating of the family and bridal party
Processional
Unity candle or special song (if desired)
Recessional

I have a wide variety of pieces to choose from, but if I don't have just what you want, I am happy to learn new music for you! You can more about the possibilities on my “Weddings” page.

WHAT DO YOU WEAR?

I usually wear a long formal gown and am happy to match my dress color and style to fit your color scheme.

DO YOU ATTEND THE WEDDING REHEARSAL?

I do not normally attend rehearsals. After many years of playing for weddings, I know just how to tailor the music to perfectly fit the timing of your ceremony. We will discuss all the details of your wedding party at your consultation to ensure that your ceremony is seamless.

DO YOU TAKE BREAKS DURING MY EVENT?

I do not take breaks during weddings. I normally take a ten minute break for every hour of playing background music. I am happy to coordinate with you to time my breaks during speeches or presentations.

HOW EARLY DO YOU ARRIVE BEFORE AN EVENT? DO YOU NEED HELP SETTING UP?

I normally arrive 40 minutes prior to my start time to unload and set up my harp and equipment. I usually do not require assistance. I provide my own harp stool and music stand.

DOES THE HARP NEED TO BE AMPLIFIED?

The harp projects very well and has a beautiful warm tone. In smaller settings, I will not need amplification. However for large venues or crowds over 40 people, I recommend amplification. I have an excellent professional sound system that operates on an extended battery, so I can play anywhere! I provide my own amplification equipment at no extra charge to you.

DO YOU PLAY WITH OTHER MUSICIANS?

Yes! I love collaborating with any instrumentalist or vocalist. For a wedding or special event, I charge $100 for a rehearsal at my home prior to the big day.

HOW FAR DO YOU TRAVEL?

Have harp, will travel! I am happy to travel just about anywhere to play for you. I do not charge mileage in the Greater Puget Sound area (Tacoma, Seattle, Olympia). A travel fee may apply for distances over 50 miles and out-of-state travel. Fees also may apply for bridge or ferry tolls.

WHAT IS YOUR POLICY FOR CONTRACTS AND DEPOSITS?

After you request a date, I will send you a contract within 24 hours outlining the details of your event. I request a non-refundable 50% deposit in order to secure a date, with the remainder due two weeks prior to the event.
